Front Porch to the Great Outdoors and So Much More

Living a Life of Adventure

Outdoor adventure, friendly folks, great history, and a laid back Appalachian atmosphere lend to a totally enjoyable get away. No chain hotels for lodging, just the wonderful Burr Oak State Park Lodge and several boutique and Historic Inns, Private Cabins and Farmhouses. They all offer loads of privacy, beautiful views, and great service. Many have outdoor fire pits, balconies, peaceful patios or gardens to enjoy the outdoors. While in the county a must do bucket list includes one of the following. The Ohio Valley Opry or a movie at the Twin City Opera House, tasting the newest award winning brew at Old Bridge Brewing Company, visiting one of the several museums, or shopping at one of the quaint little specialty shops. Special events throughout the year also provide great things to see and do. Attending The Produce Auction, Farmers Markets, a Civil War Reenactment, Rondevous, the County Fair, or one of the many festivals can also be a lot of fun. After a scrumptious meal at one of the many local restaurants you may choose an outdoor activity at one of the parks. Be sure to stop by one of the Historical Muskingum River Locks to see a boat locking through.. Many activities from a bygone era are still happening today in Morgan County.

Sarah Arnold - clutchmov.com "Northeast of McConnelsville, OH, Big Muskie’s Bucket is the highlight of the Miner’s Memorial Park which sits inside the Jesse Owens State Park and Wildlife Area, part of American Electric Power’s 52,000-acre reclamation project known as ReCreation Land.”

roamingontravels.com "I found stepping into the Twin City Opera House surprising and delightful -- like when you find a ten-dollar bill in your pocket you didn't know you had. Decorated in a rich Tyrian purple palette, it has a curving upper balcony, an arch over the stage frame, and curves along the stage edge which all contribute to a graceful theater ambiance. Warm lighting and comfortable seats add to the idea that you have stepped back in time to a place that is well-loved and welcoming.”

Gleason Family Adventure "Have you ever wanted to stay in a one of a kind destination that has history written all over it? Our family is always looking for a place to stop and adventure where there is something new to see and do. We found the perfect landing place located on the beautiful Muskingum River in Stockport, Ohio. Our one of a kind stay at Historic Stockport Mill Inn and restaurant was timed when the river was high and the views were boasting winter beauty.”
