Registering Your Short-Term Rental
All short-term rental operators in Morgan County are required to register with the Morgan County Auditor within 30 days of starting business.
Registration must be renewed annually by January 31st and includes a $20 annual fee. If you're registering a new rental for the first time, please contact the Convention & Visitors Bureau for your prorated fee amount.
To register, you'll need to provide basic information about your property, ownership, listing platforms, and contact details. Once your registration is complete, the Auditor will issue a Transient Occupancy Registration Certificate, which must be posted in a visible spot on your property.
This certificate confirms your compliance with the Morgan County Lodging Excise Tax Code, it’s not a permit, but it does show that you’re properly registered and ready to host.
